Chase is a Dom who just got out of a two year relationship. Derek is a sub and a close friend of Chase who's helping Chase with his breakup. Chase and Derek have a "one night stand" right before they leave for the leather convention and both have feelings for each other but neither will admit it. Chase and Derek skirt around their feelings and mean mug each other almost the entire time.
The beginning of the book is excruciating boring! It's pretty much a play by play of what it's like at the convention from registration to workshops. Although I've never been to this kind of a convention... I have been to conventions before (work and for fun). They all have the same kind of feel just different content. So, as I do appreciate a description of the atmosphere of the leather convention (because I've never been to one), I don't need a play by play of every step. I want to hear about the play time and the kinky fuckery that may be going on.
We even get a description of the schedule, booths, merchandise displays: "Books. Porn of every variety imaginable. More leather. Cock rings and cock cages. Whips and chains. One guy specialized in handmade glass dildos and butt plugs that were a decorative as they were useful."
At about 45% is the first time we actually get any sort of action. FINALLY! It's some pretty good action and totally makes up for the fist have of the book killing me. The sex that is in the book is really good. I only wish there was more of it. I also had to Google some things because I didn't know what they were. For example blood cupping (there is none in this book but it is mentioned). I had no idea what that was and now that I know... I don't want anything to do with it.
Overall, it was ok. I did enjoy it and I will definitely read more from this author. This ebook is currently listed on Amazon and B&N right now for $5.99. Even though I enjoyed the book, I would not pay that much for a 170 page novella. I would pay between FREE and $1.99.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
